Tradeware Mini Bottle TW05
My new TradeWare (TW) series are contemporary Caddo pottery that are made in a very economical way to be affordable to everyone and especially at small markets. Historically, when the French and Spanish met the Caddo people they wanted to trade horses, guns, and other important things for our incredibly beautiful and skilled pottery. For this reason, there are examples of ancient Caddo pottery in museums in Spain, France, Germany, and England. Because the creation and trading of fine pottery was so economical for the Caddo, we started to make pieces that weren't necessarily to be used in ritual and ceremony, and that were made in a quicker, easier way. These were used to trade with or to take to markets, and now I am creating my new TradeWare series in the same manner.
These pieces are hand formed with a quick technique of store bought clay, slipped and smoothed without painful and tedious rock burnishing, incised by hand with a scraffito tool, then kiln fired. They are a little thicker and heavier than traditional extremely thin and light Caddo pots.
Affordable and economical.I only sell these in person at small markets and conferences, and not online.
